My name is Virginia Fernandes and I am proud to present my home physiotherapy services to the local community of Sutton (Surrey) and surrounding areas. I have been a qualified physiotherapist for the last 19 years. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as well as the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. I have a specialist Masters degree in Neurological Physiotherapy from Coventry University, and I have immense experience in treating clients with a range of musculoskeletal and Neurological conditions. In the past, I have successfully run my own practice in the Sutton and Mitcham areas for many years and have also worked with major health insurance companies. My range and wealth of experience helps me provide you with not just a basic set of exercises to follow but a personalized detailed assessment of your condition to help get to the root cause of your symptoms and thus help with the best physiotherapy treatment to achieve long term recovery and gains.

We offer a variety of services including manual therapy, exercise prescription, soft tissue release techniques and electrotherapy.

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist at Virginia's Home Physiotherapy Sutton?

No, you do not need a referral to see our physiotherapist . We are a completely private physiotherapy service, so you would just need to call to book your appointment.

Can my insurance company pay for my treatment with Virginia's home physiotherapy?

No, since we are a completely Private physiotherapy service independent of any affiliation to insurance companies, you would have to make payment directly to us on the day of your treatment. We could however provide you with payment receipts for all your treatment sessions should you require those.

What will happen at my first treatment session

At your first session, your Physiotherapist will do an assessment of your condition which will include taking a history of your medical condition and symptoms. A few tests (movement tests/special tests) will be carried out to help better understand your medical problem. The assessment will help your physiotherapist to discuss the best course of action and treatment for you. Once you are happy, your physio will explain to you what treatment is about to take place and start treatment. The initial assessment and first treatment session together will last for approximately one hour. Follow up treatments will be half on hour.

What will be required for my treatment session

Most treatments especially for the back and spine will require you to be lying down, so treatment on a bed or firm mattress in your home would be helpful. We could bring in a foldable treatment table if you would like, but it is not required. Treatments for legs and arms can be done in a sitting position on a chair. If you have any special requirements let your physio know at the time of booking the appointment.
